IWD 2023 #embraceequity @luvvihonline luvvih.com

About the author: Janani V, is a WW Program Manager at Apple and graduated with an MBA from Wharton. She is also a singer and dancer based in the Bay Area. Wife and mom of a 11-year-old daughter, who teaches life lessons on how to live life in the moment. An optimist, an extrovert, saree lover, fitness enthusiast and major foodie. She has a passion and eye for designing and curating fashion.

Growing up in a foreign land, far away from the familiarity of your birthplace, can be a daunting experience. Add to that, the loss of a parent, and the situation can seem overwhelming. However, my mom, a single mom, a strong woman, managed to navigate these choppy waters with grace. My mother, a strong and determined woman, raised my brother and me in Canada.

We came from India as little kids and moved to Canada, leaving behind everything we knew to start a new life, but it was not without its challenges. Our mom, a strong and resilient woman, made sure that we never missed our father and provided for us in every way she could.

My mom's family was our backbone when we first arrived in Canada as little kids. They had been there for decades before we moved, and their support was essential in helping us settle in. We had to give up a lot as kids, but it taught us the value of hard work and perseverance. Growing up with little made us appreciate the value of giving. We learned that even though we came from nothing, we could still make a difference in the world. We believe in giving back because we came from nothing, and we understand how important it is to help others who are in similar situations.

Despite the hardships we faced, my mom never let us feel the absence of our father. She always made sure we had everything we needed, and she never burdened us with her struggles. Looking back, I realize how much she sacrificed to make our lives better, and I am forever grateful for her strength and resilience.

My mom is a well-spirited, extroverted, and humble person who used to be a fashionista in her days. Her love for dressing up, love for sarees, love of giving, and travel has influenced me in so many ways. She is a person with wheels on her feet, always ready to go on an adventure and explore new places. She has taught me to never give up on my dreams and to always keep moving forward, no matter how hard life gets.

As a mom myself now, I'm grateful that my daughter gets to grow up with my mom around. My daughter has the same zest for life as my mom and is the most empathetic person I know just like my mom. It brings me joy to see the bond they have and how my mom continues to inspire and influence the next generation.

Looking back, I realize how much my mom's strength and determination have shaped who I am today. She taught me that life is not always fair, but it's how you respond to the challenges that define you. She showed me the power of hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude. And most importantly, she taught me the value of love and family. My mom's strength and love have shaped me and my brother into the people we are today. We are grateful for everything she has done for us, and we hope to continue making her proud. Her story is a reminder that even during tough times, we can overcome challenges with the support of loved ones and come out stronger on the other side.

To all the single parents out there, I want you to know that you are not alone. Your hard work and sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and your children will grow up to appreciate everything you've done for them. To my mom, thank you for being a shining example of strength, resilience, and love. I love you more than words can express.

On this International Women's Day, I want to dedicate this blog to all the strong women out there, like my mother, who have fought and continue to fight for a better life for themselves and their families. To all the mothers who work tirelessly every day to provide for their children, you are the real heroes. Your strength, courage, and resilience inspire us all.
